ABOUT TAKLA FIRST NATION: The traditional territory of the Takla First Nation is located in North Central British Columbia and totals approximately 27,250 square kilometers. The territory is a rich environment of lakes, rivers, forests, and mountains, bordered on the west by the Skeena Mountains and on the east by the Rocky Mountains.Takla Nation is an amalgamation of the North Takla Band and the Fort Connelly Band, a union which occurred in 1959. Our traditional lands are the geographic area occupied by our ancestors for community, social, economic, and spiritual purposes. Carrier and Sekani place names exist for every physical feature and place that we occupy. Each name reflects the significance of the feature or site and today provides us with historical information to the rich history and extensive knowledge of our land and our resources.

POSITION OVERVIEW:   Heart of Takla Nation are the youth,to provide better opportunities.This role, will be professional and have high energy,and a positive attitude.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·                 When appropriate teach new skills and model tasks,

·                 Provide wording for skills and abilities used,

·                 Monitor and keep records of youth attendance,

·                 Facilitate daily health and safety meetings, going over potential hazards,

·                 Ensure the work environment is safe and healthy,

·                 Support social distancing protocols, and COVID related proactive activities,

·                 Encourage a positive working environment,

·                 Provide support with communication, task understanding and teamwork,

·                 Engage in contributing to and accomplishing the vision,goals of the Nation.

·                 Promote a positive work atmosphere and communicating in a professionalism that demonstrates mutual respect.

 Knowledge and Skills:

·       Knowledge of First Nations culture and traditions, and of systemic issues faced by First Nations people, and of the political and administrative structures of First Nations.

·       High school degree

·       Experience working with youth and children.

·       Ability to pass a criminal background check of vulnerable peoples,

·       Excellent interpersonal skills,

·       High level of energy,

·       High levels of patience,

·       Excellent problem-solving skills,

Experience and Education Requirements:

·       Copy of your Driver’s License

·       Current Driver’s Abstract

·       Proof of Business – use insurance on your personal vehicle
