ABOUT TAKLA FIRST NATION: 

The traditional territory of the Takla First Nation is located in North Central British Columbia and totals approximately 27,250 square kilometers. The territory is a rich environment of lakes, rivers, forests, and mountains, bordered on the west by the Skeena Mountains and on the east by the Rocky Mountains.

Takla Nation is an amalgamation of the North Takla Band and the Fort Connelly Band, a union which occurred in 1959. Our traditional lands are the geographic area occupied by our ancestors for community, social, economic, and spiritual purposes. Carrier and Sekani place names exist for every physical feature and place that we occupy. Each name reflects the significance of the feature or site and today provides us with historical information to the rich history and extensive knowledge of our land and our resources.

POSITION OVERVIEW: 

With confidentiality and discretion, the Executive Assistant provides direct support, coordinating information flow, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of senior level services. In addition, the Executive Assistant develops and implements processes to improve office functionality and efficiency, while providing professional service. Will be working in both locations,Takla and Prince George.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs minute taking and prepares agendas for meetings.
  • Supports the Health and Social Development team with external reporting.
  • Maintains tracking system for department grants, budget, and reporting deadlines.
  • Plans department team building and annual event celebrations.
  • Responsible for the Health and Social Development staff meetings as required.
  • Provide administrative & financial support to the Health and Social Development department.
  • Must be knowledgeable and have cultural understanding of Takla First Nation and their guiding principles and government protocols.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal/external stakeholders. 
  • A high degree of planning and coordination skills with the ability to triage, address and refer matters from constituents and other sources, which may include those of a politically sensitive and/or controversial nature.
  • Arranges/provides travel for clients & staff as required.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: 

  • Proficient in appropriate technological resources including; Word processing,Spreadsheets,Development of databases using Excel and Email, internet, and web-based research.
  • Demonstrated commitment to service excellence.
  • Can exhibit positive experiences and make sound judgement in decision-making and problem solving. 
  • The ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and the ability to gather and analyze data, prepare reports, and provide recommendations. 
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completion of a relevant post-secondary credential (preferably business administration)
  • Minimum five years’ experience at a similar decision -making, leadership, and problem-solving administrative level, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
